Protection of wood from weather

Independent studies by the Forest Products Laboratory show that adhesion of all coatings is significantly reduced when woodhas been allowed to weather prior to coating. When you pre-finish,your wood arrives protected from the weather. There is no danger of premature failure of any finish due to the effects of moisture being reabsorbed into the wood. Prefinishing also prevents the damage effects of ultraviolet rays on the exposed surfaces prior to coating.

Longer lasting finishes

A durable finish begins with a quality bare coat. Whether you decide to stain or paint, a factory applied base coat provides a uniform finish which enhances any factory or field applied topcoat. Pre-staining provides a base coat that seals out moisture and ensures uniform color for successive coats. Priming provides abase coat that seals wood from moisture and provides good adhesion for all top coats. Factory finishes come with a 15 year limited warranty.

Stains or paints from the manufacturer of your choice can be factory applied in a wide variety of choices. We offer more choices than any other manufacturer.

Shortens construction time

Pre-finishing can put you ahead at your building site. Pre-staining and priming provide you with trim and siding that is sealed all four sides and ready for installation. Factory finishes can shorten construction time further. Their tough mar-resistant formulas stand up to handling in transit and during installation. Using our pre-finished nails, factory finished siding can be used as a finish coat. (We recommend a field coat). Factory finishes lessen the need for callbacks to cover scratches, shrink lines, lap marks or over spray Pre-finished siding can be installed under any weather conditions, so there are no problems coordinating schedules.

Reduced overall costs

The pre-finishing of trim and siding by machine reduces costs not only by shortening the construction time but also by being less costly than finishing in the field. Machine application has been proven to reduce costs by at least 25%. Using factory finish can further reduce the long run costs by lengthening the intervals between maintenance coats. Factory finishes are warrantied for15 years.

15 year warranty

Factory finishes are warrantied for a full 15 years when top coats are applied. We offer finishes from Cabot, Sherwin Williams, or Olympic. The following performance features are warrantied:

• Crack, peel and flake resistance: Finish coat will not crack, peel or flake from a properly prepared substrate.
• Washability: Dirt can be removed without damaging the finish.
• Non-yellowing: Whites and colors will not yellow due to age.
• No chalk washdown: Will not chalk-stain brick or other surfaces below.
• Erosion: The paint film will not erode to expose the substrate.

All manufacturers offer a non-prorated warranty that is for materials only and does not include labor or cost of application of product or installation of siding.
